Since the dawn of history, fires and floods have wreaked destruction on human beings’ homes, possessions and lives. Even today, with all our modern advances, natural disasters still destroy our most precious possessions. The professionals who restore damaged property play a unique role as they strive to find the most effective way to make it better for all involved.
The RIA Inc. Restoration Awards was established to recognise restoration businesses who have demonstrated outstanding customer service, excellence and professionalism through a restoration project. Submissions for the 2024 RIA Inc. Restoration Awards are now open. The award categories include:
- RIA Inc. Residential Restoration Project of the Year Award
- RIA Inc. Commercial Restoration Project of the Year Award
Criteria
Submissions are open to any RIA Inc. member OR non-member business that provides restoration and remediation services to the insurance industry. Modelled on the RIA Phoenix Award, submissions should address the following criteria concerning a project from July 2023 – April 2024:
- Demonstrate value through a clear reduction in the amount of the loss to the insurance company and/or the property owner (30% of the total score)
- Focus on effective problem-solving (20% of the total score)
- Identify innovative procedures that provide a good example for the industry (20% of the total score)
- Customer satisfaction (30% of the total score)
The submission should be 1000 – 2000 words in .pdf, video, audio or a combination of these formats. The narrative of the project should include:
- An overview of the project
- Identification of the major challenges
- The steps taken to address the challenges
- Any creative solutions or remedies utilised to save the client time and/or money
- A financial synopsis of the value of the project
- Clear identification of cost savings to the client
- Explanation of what makes this project unique
- Before/after photos of good quality (300 dpi or higher or links to images). The photos should include captions with applicable information
- Any relevant reports referencing relevant standards, moisture maps etc.
- Client satisfaction
The applicant’s portion of the project must be fully completed. There is no minimum project size. All submissions and supporting documents are due by the 17th May 2024. The winners will be announced and presented with their awards at the 2024 RIA Inc. Restoration Conference & Trade Show.

Jury
A minimum of three jury members with extensive experience in restoration and insurance issues will select the winning project for each award. The jurors’ names will be kept confidential. Jurors will not vote for or against competitor businesses from their market areas, nor will they judge any projects in which they may have been involved in some capacity.
