Industry Code of Practice​

The Restoration Industry Code of Practice (RICOP) is now available, it is a critical step toward unifying and uplifting our sector.

This voluntary, industry-led code, developed in alignment with ACCC guidelines, builds upon the RIA’s International Code of Ethics and complements key stakeholder frameworks such as the General Insurance Code of Practice.

The Restoration Industry Code of Practice (RICOP) is designed to align our industry with five key value pillars:

  • Customer Care & Satisfaction
  • Health & Safety
  • Environmental and Sustainability Practices
  • Quality, Standards & Loss Mitigation

RICOP reinforces our commitment to self-regulation, continuous improvement, and long-term sustainability.

RIA Members are now eligible to become official Subscribers to RICOP by completing the Code of Practice training and submitting the required insurance documentation. Members can access this through the Member Area.

Code of Practice Benefits

Code Governance Committee (CGC) 

As part of the roll out of the Code of Practice, we are calling for nominations to join the Code Governance Committee (CGC). The Code Governance Committee (CGC) is responsible for receiving and considering any complaints that any subscribers to the Code may have breached the Code. The CGC is also responsible for providing education and guidance on complying with the Code, identifying areas for improvement for the industry, providing regular updates on complaints and breach decisions.

The CGC will consist of a panel of up to eighteen members, made up of a selection of members of the RIA Inc Management Committee and an appropriate mix of other suitably qualified and experienced Subscribers. CGC membership will also include industry-specific representation from Subscribers who are qualified in restoration, air quality, building sciences and building/construction.
