The restoration industry is made up of professional businesses and vendors who specialise in restoring, mitigating, and reinstating damaged buildings and contents — typically caused by water, fire, contaminants, or major weather events.
This multi-billion-dollar industry plays a crucial role in supporting owners of both domestic and commercial properties. Restoration professionals work closely with insurance companies, facility managers, property managers, strata managers, and other stakeholders to assess damage and deliver solutions. Their goal is to create safe, habitable environments and restore buildings and contents to their pre-loss condition or better condition for the owner.
Many restoration companies provide 24/7 emergency services and are often the first responders when properties are impacted. Their teams play a vital role in supporting affected families and communities, particularly during natural disasters and major weather events. The dedication and hard work of these professionals are recognised and appreciated by countless individuals and businesses they assist every day.
The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) is the oldest and largest non-profit professional trade association representing the restoration industry. RIA is committed to providing leadership, knowledge, training, events, support, and advocacy to advance and strengthen the profession.
Founded in the United States in 1946, RIA now supports over 1,000 member companies and represents more than 20,000 cleaning and restoration professionals across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Through its extensive global network, RIA has become a trusted resource for restoration professionals dedicated to achieving the highest industry standards.
In 2019, RIA Inc. Australasia was established as an official chapter of RIA Inc., forming the Australasian Management Committee to better support members and promote RIA’s interests across Australia and New Zealand.
The Australasian Management Committee fully supports RIA’s mission:
To be the restoration contractor’s foremost resource for advanced education, professional practices, member advocacy, and cultivation of industry relationships.”
